Community Guidelines

Welcome to Northern Voices Choir! We are delighted that you’ve come to give our choir a go and we hope you have a great time!

The goal of Northern Voices Choir is to create an enriching and affirming singing experience in an inclusive, welcoming and safe environment. These Community Guidelines should not only help you understand how to act within the community but also help you understand what to expect from others in this space.
COVID SAFE PLAN
Did you know: Someone vocalising an 'aah' sound followed by 10 seconds of normal breathing emits around 60 per cent more aerosols than 30 seconds of repeated coughing.
In order to prevent Northern Voices Choir from becoming a super spreader, we must follow the Covid safe plan.
Our plan to keep our staff and members safe from the spread of COVID-19
We must:
  •  Display signs with denisty limits and restrict bumbers accordingly.
  • Use floor markings to indicate safe distance.
  • Explain our Covid safe requirements at start of each session.
  • Have masks available for anyone who needs one.
  • Perform a pre and post session cleaning of surfaces.
  • Have hand sanitizer available at multiple locations in the hall.
  • Have our QR Code sign in displayed around the hall.
  • Keep doors and windows open, as well as utilise aircon and fans for maximum airflow.

You must:
  • Sign in using QR Code.
  • Wear a mask that covers mouth and nose when in the hall.
  • Maintain a distance of 1.5 metres apart.
  • Use your own charts. Don't share or touch other people's charts or devices.
  • Rgularly sanitize using hand sanitizer provided.
  • If you feel unwell, do not come to rehearsal. Get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result.

Our values based guidelines

Respect
Be kind, courteous and respectful to all members and teachers.

Inclusivity
All singers are welcome in our choir. Harassment, bullying or insults based on race, religion, disability, orientation or gender will not be tolerated.

Safety
Please be considerate of the safety and comfort of others. Refrain from any activities that may cause injury or endanger yourself or others.

If you feel that an event took place that violated these guidelines, please speak to one of the teachers or email northernvoiceschoir@gmail.com

In the event of a breach of guidelines

  • If a teacher witnesses bullying or harassment, the person responsible will be spoken to privately.
  • If a member expresses that they feel bullied or harassed, we will work together with them to decide what action/outcome would be best.
  • Hopefully the individual simply didn’t realise and is happy to change their behaviour. However, if an individual continues to knowingly cause distress/harm to others after repeated warnings, we will be forced to ask them to leave.

Northern Voices Choir acknowledges the Traditional owners of this land, The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nations. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and future.
