About Northies

Founded in 2015 by besties Cate de Carteret and Maryanne Dihayco, Northern Voices began as a group of mates meeting weekly to sing fun arrangements of our favourite songs.

It has since grown and is now a huge group of 30(ish) mates! Northies is a social choir, which means the singing is really just an excuse to hang out and connect with locals (although we do crank out some bangers!). There is no audition process, you don't need to be able to read music, and we don't care if you sing every note wrong. In fact, our policy is wrong and strong!

Northies perform gigs at the end of every term. Check out our YouTube channel to se past performances.

If you are choir-curious, come along for a no-pressure casual session!
Northies is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly and welcomes people of all abilities, cultures and identities. Check out our Community guidelines for more info.

Northern Voices acknowledges the custodians and traditional owners of the land upon which we sing, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their elders past present and emerging.
